St Valentine's Day The 14th February.

Every year it is celebrated, normally we give a card or present to someone we love. or hope to love! But how did this come about anyway?

It was because of St Valentine. He was a Roman Christian Priest who refused to renounce his Christian faith in 268AD. He was put to death and this gave him martyrdom within the church. However that does not really explain our modern day celebration of the 14th February.

But this does....

Not long before St Valentine was led to his execution, he managed to write a little note and left with his the jailer's daughter who had befriended him during his imprisonment, he signed it, "from your valentine".

St Valentine was honoured when Pope Gelasius decided to set the 14th February each and every year as St Valentine's Day. To this day we still celebrate St Valentine.

Probably you have given gifts on this day in the past and will continue to celebrate it into the future. Usually it is by the exchange of love messages, cards and gifts. Often these expressions of love are sent anonymously.

You can show your loved and prospective loved ones that you care with a special gift from Italy. At www.Buy-silver-jewellery.com we have many items of beautiful Italian silver Jewellery that are a wonderful expression of your feelings for this Valentines Day.

Best wishes and wonders for your Valentines!!
